A note from me
My career was built on both sides of the Japan–Nepal relationship. I moved to Japan in 2005, completed graduate study there, and began my working life with a Japanese construction company. I spent close to fifteen years in Japan and returned to Nepal in 2020.
The work in Japan was international: projects in Nepal, India and Bhutan, including ODA and Japanese yen-loan programmes. I handled contracts, project execution, stakeholder coordination and overseas business operations. Working inside a Japanese company is where I absorbed the assumptions behind it as practice — discipline, quality, trust, long-term relationships, and where responsibility sits.
Since returning I have been building and operating businesses in Nepal myself: investing, hiring, managing cash flow and operations, assembling supply chains, learning what customers actually want, and making a business work inside local regulation. That is a different vantage point from advising alone.
Today I also advise Japanese manufacturing and construction companies operating in Nepal — on business development, reading the local market, information gathering, stakeholder coordination and partner search. I understand how Japanese companies think because I studied and worked in Japan for years. I understand the realities of Nepal because I am running businesses here now. Knowing both sides of the table is what I bring.
Entering a new market is rarely a question of information alone. It is about understanding people, building trust, identifying the right opportunity, deciding on solid grounds, and being able to execute on the ground. Not every opportunity becomes a business. But every good business begins with understanding the reality on the ground.
OUR WAY
- Understand the market
- Build trust
- Create opportunity
- Execute on the ground
